OREANDA-NEWS  The Chechen authorities plan to open an industrial-production plant of the Grozny type on the territory of the special economic zone (SEZ) for the production of airfield equipment. This was announced to TASS on Wednesday by the Minister of Industry and Energy of the republic Adam Khakimov.

"To date, we have already begun work on opening an airfield equipment plant in the Chechen Republic together with Belaz (Belarusian Automobile Plant - approx. TASS). First of all, these will be airfield tractors. Given the fact that this market was completely dependent on imports, and now almost all foreign companies have left the Russian market, there is a huge demand for airfield equipment," Khakimov said.

He recalled that earlier the Chechen Republic and Belarus signed a roadmap on cooperation in the fields of mechanical engineering and light industry. "The document contains a number of concrete steps and measures that are aimed not only at boosting cooperation between Belarus and the Chechen Republic in general, but also at implementing specific projects," Khakimov said.

The industrial-production SEZ "Grozny" was established in December 2019, 256 hectares of industrial land were allocated for it. It is planned that the SEZ will become one of the main points of growth of the economy and industrial potential of the Chechen Republic.
