OREANDA-NEWS  Industrial production in Russia in March increased by 1.2% for the first time in a year; according to the results of the first quarter, the industry showed a decrease in annual terms — by 0.9% after a decline of 3% in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Rosstat data.

In March of this year, compared to the previous month, the industry grew by 13.4%, excluding seasonal and calendar factors — by 1.3%.

According to Rosstat, in the field of mining, industrial production in March decreased by 3.6% year-on-year after a decrease of 3.2% in February; in the first quarter, the decline was 3.3% year-on-year. The manufacturing industry grew by 6.3% year-on—year in March (for the first time since February 2022) after a decline of 1.2% a month earlier; in January-March, there was also an increase of 1.1% compared to the same period last year.

In the field of water supply, sanitation and waste disposal, the decrease in production in March in annual terms amounted to 13.3% after 9.4% in February (in January-March — a decline of 10.2%). Production in the field of electricity, gas and steam supply decreased by 4% in March after an increase of 2.7% in February (for the first three months of this year — a decrease of 0.2% year-on-year).

As Rosstat noted, in comparison with February 2023, the absolute majority of industries showed an increase in volumes, both in the raw materials sector and in manufacturing, as well as in the energy sector.
