OREANDA-NEWS  They want to ban up to five types of plastic packaging in Russia starting from 2024, and by 2030 the number of types of prohibited plastic may increase to 20. Such plans are spelled out in the federal project "Closed-loop Economy". Izvestia writes about this with reference to the presentation of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO).

According to the head of the REO Denis Butsaev, we are talking about a gradual, systematic transition to eco-friendly alternatives, that is, to packaging that can be recycled, which means that it will not overflow landfills. At the same time, the changes should be gradual so that all the necessary capacities appear in the country, and business can prepare for innovations.

First of all, it is proposed to limit the use of non-traditional PET bottles (other than white, transparent blue, green and brown), as well as to stop the turnover of thin shrink film, which is used for labels, mesh bags for vegetables, plastic bags and capsules for coffee.
