OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government intends to extend the simplified rules for certification of domestically produced cars, although some requirements may change.

The current document expires on February 1, 2023. Among other things, it allows to produce cars without airbags, with engines of the lowest class of environmental friendliness "Euro-0", not to install an emergency response system in case of accidents "Era-Glonass", ABS and ESP systems, to abandon the functions of automatic triggering.

The interlocutor of the agency did not specify which parameters of the document will be preserved, and which are supposed to be changed. However, he noted that too long production of simplified cars will have a negative impact on road safety. In addition, they will reduce the demand for localization of production of electronic components and automotive components, which, in turn, threatens the fulfillment of import-independence tasks.

Earlier, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak called for abandoning the Western production standards imposed on Russia, as they hinder the country's development. As an example of successfully getting rid of such requirements, he called the decision not to resort to the environmental standard of Euro-5 cars.

Simplified certification rules were introduced last spring when, as a result of Western sanctions, car factories began to stop in Russia. The shortage of automotive components did not allow the production of more advanced cars, and the authorities decided to reduce the requirements for products in order to prevent the cessation of production.
