OREANDA-NEWS  In the near future, Russia will start using artificial intelligence (AI) for garbage collection. This was stated by Denis Butsaev, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, AI will be taught to assess the level of fullness of garbage cans with an accuracy of up to 90 percent and promptly inform about the need to remove waste. Butsaev noted that AI is already widely used in determining filled containers. However, the accuracy of the assessment still needs to be improved.

The deputy head of the department added that AI is also used to assess the condition of landfills and control the accumulation of birds.

Earlier, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment proposed to increase the basic eco–collection rates for 35 types of packaging by 2.1-11.7 times.
