OREANDA-NEWS Japanese semiconductors continued to be imported to Russia, despite the sanctions. This is reported by the Nikkei Asia edition with reference to analysts of the Indian Export Genius.

Japanese electronics, the direct export of which was prohibited, began to be supplied through third countries. According to the Russian customs authorities, from February 24, 2022 to March 31, 2023, more than 89 transactions worth $ 11 million were made. This money was received as payment for the import of about 2 million products. More than 70 percent of deliveries were carried out through companies registered in China. The three leaders in shipments also included South Korea and Turkey.

Meanwhile, direct exports of semiconductors from Japan decreased by 85 percent, to 150 thousand products. According to Nikkei, the laws of Japan do not allow restricting the export of products through third countries, unlike American legal norms.
