OREANDA-NEWS  The largest Russian printing houses announced the impossibility of import substitution of European paints and threads for books. RBC writes about this with reference to representatives of the First Model Printing House and Pareto-Print.

According to Larisa Danilova, the head of the marketing department of OktoPrint Service, Russia completely lacks its own production of offset paints. Now these components are purchased in China and South Korea. The production of domestic lacquers depends on imported concentrate and raw materials.

"It's the same with the wire for stitching brochures: the Russian versions are not very good chrome plating and rust over time," said Pavel Arsenyev, director of Pareto Print.

Earlier it became known that the circulation of books and brochures published in Russia in the first quarter of 2023 fell by 23 percent year—on-year to 69 million copies.
