OREANDA-NEWS Russia and Cuba continue to develop ties in trade and metallurgy, the Russian Federation provides humanitarian assistance to the Latin American country. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko on Thursday.

"Work is underway to open a Russian trading house in Havana, which will provide a wide range of high-quality goods for Cuban consumers," he said, opening a meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Cuban commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

According to him, the modernization of the workshop of the metallurgical plant "Santillana de Acero named after Jose Marti" has been completed, which will produce about 230 thousand tons of liquid steel per year.

"We continue to provide humanitarian support to our Cuban friends: 25 thousand tons of wheat were delivered in February. Today, a contract will be signed for the free supply of 14.5 thousand lamps that will illuminate the streets of Havana," he said.
