OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, they wanted to simplify the import of cognac distillate from Georgia. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper with reference to a letter from Rosalkogoltabakcontrol addressed to Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov.

To date, more than 70 percent of the distillate for the production of the drink is imported to Russia, and raw materials have become scarce. Georgian imports are subject to stricter control: the Federal Customs Service issues each batch of cognac distillates supplied only after laboratory tests and verification by Rospotrebnadzor. Due to tighter controls, Georgian raw materials began to enter Russia under the guise of products from Armenia and Kazakhstan

"The delivery of cognac distillate, bypassing intermediary logistics and financial costs through transit states (such as Armenia), directly from the producer from Georgia, is economically more profitable for the recipient," representatives of Rosalkogoltabakcontrol note.
