OREANDA-NEWS Rosatom State Corporation has agreed to cooperate in the field of lithium mining with the Bolivian company Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB). This is reported in the Telegram channel of the corporate publication "The Country of Rosatom".

The structure of the Russian company "Uranium One Group" will be engaged in the extraction and production of metal. To do this, together with YLB, they will build a special industrial complex on the basis of the Pastos Grandes salt marsh. Rosatom's investments will amount to about $ 600 million.

The head of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel reported that active work on the project will begin in 2025, and by 2027 the partners will reach the planned production capacity of 25 thousand tons of lithium carbonate per year, Interfax writes. According to Likhachev, this is about 4 percent of the global lithium market.

Rosatom is already cooperating with Bolivian companies in other areas. For example, in 2016, an intergovernmental agreement was signed on cooperation in the peaceful atom and on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear research and technology center.
