OREANDA-NEWS  According to the results of the first 11 months of 2025, steel production in Russia decreased by 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year, to 61.5 million tons. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the information and analytical company in the field of ferrous metallurgy "Chermet Corporation".

The output of finished rolled products fell by 4.8 percent, to 53.8 million tons, and pig iron — by 1.6 percent, to 45.9 million tons. Steel pipe production fell by 18.4 percent, to 9.4 million tons, and separately in November — by 29.9 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, the country's iron ore production increased by 1 percent in 11 months, while the output of gross dry coke decreased by 7 percent.

Earlier, analysts estimated that in the first ten months of 2025, demand for steel in Russia decreased by 15 percent, and separately in the third quarter it fell to the lowest since 2015-2016, 9.2 million tons. Against this background, metallurgical companies, due to problems and insufficient support from the state, began to reduce staff, although so far we are talking about support staff.
