OREANDA-NEWS The timing of the development of a promising engine for civil aviation PD-35 is shifted a couple of years ahead. This was announced to TASS by Alexander Inozemtsev, Deputy General Director of JSC United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) for the management of the Perm Motors research and production complex, Managing Director - General Designer of JSC UEC-Aviadvigatel on the sidelines of the Perm Engineering and Industrial Forum.

"According to PD-35, we had planned terms [of development] until 2027-2028. Now, in connection with all the events, [the deadlines] are shifting a couple of years to the right, because funds are now redistributed to increase the volumes of PD-14, PD-8, PS-90A. This is a forced measure, but nothing stops," Inozemtsev said.

The development of the PD-35 engine began in the summer of 2016 at two plants: the Perm Aviadvigatel and the Rybinsk Saturn (both are part of the United Engine Corporation). It is assumed that the PD-35, unlike the previous modification of the PD-14, will have a thrust of 16 tons more (up to 35 tons). The PD-35 engine is necessary for the Russian aviation industry to create new wide-body aircraft. The total investment in the engine project approved by the President of the Russian Federation is 180 billion rubles.
