OREANDA-NEWS  Yandex is launching the production of its own OpenYard servers in Ryazan, the director of Promobit (manufacturer of servers and Bitblaze storage) told Kommersant Maxim Koposov. According to him, on April 13, representatives of the company participated in the Treolan distributor conference (part of Lanit Group), where the OpenYard line was presented, "Yandex expects to declare the equipment in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in order to gain access to public procurement."

Yandex, Lanit, VTB and the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Gigabyte signed an agreement on the construction of a server manufacturing plant in Ryazan in 2021 (see Kommersant dated June 3, 2021). From the information on the Yandex website, it follows that the company is looking for specialists to work in Ryazan, in particular, a radio electronics engineer. In Yandex itself, Kommersant clarified that production has not yet been launched, and the company "has never been a controlling person of OpenYard."

At the moment, more than half of the sales of servers in pieces in the Russian Federation are accounted for by foreign manufacturers — Huawei, HP, Dell, etc. According to him, Yadro is in the first place among Russian vendors (about 15%), Aquarius is in the second (10%), Kraftway is in the third (7%).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade only noted that Yandex, as a private company, "can independently choose whose technical solutions to use."
