OREANDA-NEWS  Afghan and Russian energy companies discussed in Kabul the issues of major repairs of Afghan power plants, modernization of equipment and expansion of generating capacities, the press service of the Afghan state energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) reported on Wednesday.

"Abdul Haq Khamkar, General Director of the Afghan state energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), held a meeting with technical specialists of the Russian power machinery company in his office. The parties discussed issues of major repairs of power plants, modernization of equipment and expansion of generating capacities," the message says.

According to the press service, during the meeting, Khamkar told the Russian partners about the investment opportunities and conditions created in the country for large-scale repairs, equipment upgrades and capacity building of power plants. He assured that DABS would provide all necessary assistance to Power Machines during the preliminary technical assessment of the facilities.

Denis Rudakov, a representative of the commercial department of Power Machines, informed about the company's intention to conduct a preliminary technical audit of operating power plants in Afghanistan. Based on the data obtained, the company plans to prepare projects for their major repairs, equipment modernization and increased electricity generation.

Currently, a number of hydroelectric power plants are operating in Afghanistan, many of which were built with the economic and technical assistance of the USSR. In recent years, significant efforts have been made in Afghanistan to improve their efficiency and upgrade their technical base, the DABS press service notes.
