OREANDA-NEWS  After a major accident on an oil pipeline in the Omsk region, a crude oil spill occurred. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the region.

"The accident occurred north of the village of Lugovaya in the Omsk district of the Omsk region as a result of the depressurization of the pipeline on January 27," the press service said.

It is specified that the area of the oil spill with a volume of 60 cubic meters was 200 square meters. According to the source of the publication in the law enforcement agencies, the pipeline belongs to the company "Transneft — Western Siberia".

After the accident, the working pit was cleaned, a plug was installed at the leak site, and the contaminated area was reclaimed. Specialists are carrying out work to neutralize the area affected by the spill and assess the damage caused to the environment. The course of the preliminary investigation was taken under control by the regional prosecutor's office.

Earlier in the Komi Republic, the beaver dam helped to avoid water pollution in the Kychan Stream after the depressurization of the Ukhta — Yaroslavl oil pipeline. The pollution affected 0.8 hectares of the forest fund.
