OREANDA-NEWS A large Chinese company, Xuanyuan, has proposed building a cable car in one of the Russian Far Eastern regions to organize the export of coal from Russia. This is reported by the subsidiary of the State Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, KRDV Amurskaya.
Xing Shujie, General Manager of the group's Major Projects center, explained that the Cable Car Express initiative will create an all-weather transport corridor that does not pollute the environment.
The system is a road made of composite steel cables, with automated transport modules, powered by solar and wind power generation. In particular, it will avoid the construction of a bridge across the Amur River.
The idea was announced at a meeting with the leadership of Xuanyuan, representatives of the Ministries of External Relations and Tourism, Transport and Road Management, as well as the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Amur Region. The region is being considered as one of the possible sites for construction. Earlier, a similar project was proposed by Primorye.
China is one of the main buyers of Russian coal, but the development of its own production and the growth of purchases from other market participants leads to a decrease in imports from Russia. The problem with logistics remains one of the key ones, as only supplies through the ports of the Far East and the railway remain profitable for Russian companies, but the latter's capacity in this direction is limited.
