OREANDA-NEWS  The governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, signed the decision of the city's operations center to impose a temporary ban on the sale of fuel to minors, Smolny reported on Wednesday.

"For the period from March 9 to December 31, 2026, a ban on the release of petroleum products in any container to persons under the age of majority will be introduced at all gas stations located in St. Petersburg," the statement said.

It is specified that the decision was made within the framework of measures stipulated by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on strengthening public safety.

According to the document, it is prescribed to ensure compliance with the ban for business entities that operate gas stations in St. Petersburg.

As noted in the decision, this measure is aimed at reducing the risks associated with the use of combustible materials by minors for destructive purposes, and is part of a set of measures to ensure the protection of public order in the city.

At the beginning of the year, fires were extinguished at two gas stations in St. Petersburg. After the fire on Savushkina Street, a girl was detained, who, as surveillance cameras showed, first bought gasoline in a canister at this gas station, and then set it on fire.
