OREANDA-NEWS. The construction of the Nord Stream 2 (SP-2) gas pipeline has been almost completely completed. This was announced by the German Consul in Yekaterinburg, Matthias Kruse. According to her, there is still 80 km of the pipeline left to be laid.

Kruse, speaking with journalists on May 17, said: “As far as I know, 80 km still remain to be built to date. Unfortunately, I do not have more detailed information. We proceed from the assumption that the gas pipeline will be built. "

According to him, for Germany, the construction of this gas pipeline is, first of all, a project that diversifies the energy sector.

On the eve of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for the early completion of the project for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. She clarified that the German authorities will support the construction of the gas pipeline without regard to sanctions from the United States. According to the information provided by the Ministry of Economy of the country, Germany today is experiencing an urgent need for gas.

Co-chairman of the German party "Alternative for Germany" Tino Krupalla agreed with the German Chancellor, who noted on May 11 that the SP-2 project should be completed, since the supply of Russian natural gas is very important for Germany.
