OREANDA-NEWS In December 2025, oil production in Russia amounted to 9.304 million barrels per day, which is 73 thousand barrels less than in November. This is stated in the report of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), RIA Novosti reports.

The maximum production level within the OPEC+ quotas for Russia is 9.574 million barrels per day, that is, 270 thousand more than the real volume.Earlier, Bloomberg reported a decrease in oil production in Russia in December by 100,000 barrels per day, citing sources familiar with government data. According to his estimates, production dropped to 9.326 million barrels per day. The main reasons given are the continuation of drone attacks on the Russian oil and refining infrastructure and the growth of export problems due to US sanctions.

The Russian authorities do not provide official data on the extraction, export and production of petroleum products. Only information about oil and gas revenues for the month remains public. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Finance postponed the publication of such information for an indefinite period of time.

In addition, the Ministry of Economic Development reported a drop in December in the average price of Russian Urals oil, used to calculate the mineral extraction tax (MET), to $ 39.18 per barrel. This is more than five dollars lower than in November.
