OREANDA-NEWS. The Danish Energy Agency has allowed the company Nord Stream 2 AG to complete building of the gas pipeline in waters of the country using pipe-laying vessels with anchor positioning.

“The Danish Energy Agency, in response to a request from Nord Stream 2 AG, decided that the conditions for the use of pipe-laying vessels with dynamic positioning should be amended in the permit for the construction of Nord Stream 2, which the Agency issued to the company on October 30, 2019. The changes mean that the company can use pipe-laying vessels with anchor positioning, either separately or in combination with vessels equipped with a dynamic positioning system,” the regulator’s statement reads.

It is noted that the remaining part of Nord Stream 2 for completion passes outside the zone where the use of ships with anchor positioning is not recommended due to the risk associated with chemical weapons which were sunk there.
