OREANDA-NEWS Asia in five to seven years may become the main export market for Gazprom, Dmitry Skryabin, portfolio manager at Alfa Capital, told RIA Novosti. According to him, by 2025 the demand for gas in China will increase from the current 350 billion cubic meters per year to 450-480 billion cubic meters, and within 10 years we can talk about a trillion cubic meters of gas, subject to the active replacement of coal fuel with gas.

Asian markets will become the main markets for Gazprom in five to seven years. The question is the price of supplies and the development of the corresponding gas transportation infrastructure, including in China itself,” Skryabin said.

Earlier, Evgeny Nadorshin, an economist at PF Capital, expressed the opinion that in the event of a decrease in Russian gas consumption in Europe, there is no question of a complete cessation of supplies, however, it will not be possible to redirect unclaimed volumes of supplies to other countries quickly, completely and completely. In this case, the losses for Russia will be noticeable in the long term, the expert believes.

Prior to this, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the Russian budget will withstand the decline in Russian gas consumption in European countries, and the Europeans will not be able to quickly abandon it. The head of the department stressed that Russia is trying to diversify the transportation of energy resources to the countries of the East, balancing the budget, taking into account the changing situation and counting on an increase in supplies in other directions.
