OREANDA-NEWS  Even after the conclusion of the contract for the supply of LNG from Qatar, there are still no real alternatives to gas supplies from the Russian Federation, said Klaus Ernst, head of the German Bundestag committee on energy, on Tuesday.

"The Federal government is celebrating the LNG deal with Qatar and boasts of big numbers. In fact, these two million tons of LNG correspond to three percent of gas consumption in Germany. There are still no real alternatives to Russian gas!" the politician of the Leftists party wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the Qatari oil and gas state-owned company QatarEnergy signed an agreement with the American company ConocoPhillips on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany in the amount of about 2 million tons per year, starting in 2026 and for 15 years.
