OREANDA-NEWS  The Zaporozhye NPP, which came under the control of the Russian army on February 28, under no circumstances can be taken out of the control of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, noting that, in her opinion, only the Russian Federation can ensure the nuclear and physical security of the facility.

"There can be no question of any withdrawal of the NPP from Russian control or transfer of control over it to some third party," Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti. According to her, the station is completely controlled by Russia.

The discussion around the potential transition of the NPP from the control of the Russian military began after the statement of the head of the Ukrainian Energoatom, Pyotr Kotin, that he sees signs of Russia's preparation for leaving the NPP.

On November 28, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the words of Mr. Kotin, stressing that "there is no need to look for signs where they do not exist and cannot be."
