Nevertheless, Indian companies continue to purchase Russian oil. They preferred not to reject a commercially advantageous deal, choosing those hydrocarbons that are cheaper.
"The Indian government has made it clear that there is no cessation of Russian oil supplies. Russian oil is not under sanctions," the source said.
The day before, Bloomberg reported that India's state-owned refineries had stopped buying oil from Russia.
Experts believe that India cannot afford to abandon Russian oil, as it has long been dependent on these supplies. The latter are necessary for its booming economy and growing population.
