OREANDA-NEWS  More than 970 settlements, in which almost 230 thousand people live, were left without power supply last week in seven regions of the Central and Volga Federal Districts due to icy rain and strong wind, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia said.

"In seven subjects of the Central and Volga Federal Districts, power supply was disrupted in more than 970 settlements with a population of over 226 thousand people," the agency interlocutor said.
He added that teams of specialists from 16 regions of the country were involved in restoring power supply in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kursk regions.

According to him, in one municipality of the Nizhny Novgorod region, more than 1 thousand people still remain without electricity. Emergency recovery work is scheduled to be completed by the end of Monday.
