OREANDA-NEWS Indian Reliance Industries, the operator of the world's largest oil refining complex, will return to purchases of Russian oil in February and March, although volumes will not be comparable to those in 2025. This is reported by Reuters with reference to sources.
The last time the company received oil from Russia was in December, having obtained permission from the United States. No purchases were made in January.
The agency's interlocutors claim that the suppliers of raw materials will be companies that are not on the sanctions lists. It is not reported whether purchases are planned after March.
Earlier it became known that Reliance Industries began negotiations with the United States on the purchase of oil in Venezuela, after American special forces arrested the President of the republic, Nicolas Maduro.
Industry sources say that heavy grades of oil produced by Venezuela are particularly convenient for the company, but supplies have been curtailed in recent years due to US sanctions. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Reliance became India's largest importer of Russian oil due to significant discounts on it.
