OREANDA-NEWS The head of the representative office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the Russian Federation, Dusko Perovich, said the Republika Srpska is ready to pay for Russian gas in rubles. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to Perovich, since Gazprom extends the main contract every year, BiH receives the market price, but according to the old formula.

"We are ready to pay in rubles. This is a technical issue. Of course, today we are experiencing difficulties with payment, because transfers through correspondent banks are delayed," said the head of the Republika Srpska representative office.

Earlier, Perovic said that the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin negotiations on the construction of a gas pipeline to supply Russian gas to the country. According to him, the Council of Ministers of BiH expressed approval for the start of the negotiation process. At the same time, Perovich stressed that if earlier negotiations were conducted at the level of the Russia—Bosnia and Herzegovina intergovernmental commission, now negotiations will be conducted with Serbia, since BiH will be connected to the pipeline transit system of Serbia.
