OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and a delegation from Kazakhstan discussed increasing the transit of Russian oil and gas through Kazakhstan, as well as providing Russian gas to the north of the country, the cabinet said.

"Alexander Novak met with Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev and Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov... During the meeting, issues of increasing transit supplies of Russian oil and gas through the territory of Kazakhstan and the possibility of providing Russian gas to the north and northeast of the country were also discussed," the government said in a statement.

In addition, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan discussed OPEC+ cooperation, cooperation in the energy sector, including in the field of electric power, hydropower and renewable energy sources.

With the participation of Russian specialists, three coal-fired thermal power plants will be built in Kazakhstan in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk, as well as the reconstruction of two power units at Ekibastuzskaya GRES-2.

The meeting also touched upon the topic of the participation of Russian companies in oil projects in Kazakhstan and the possibility of cooperation in the field of peaceful atom and in the financial and banking sector.
