OREANDA-NEWS Russia's first underground oil storage facility can already be operated, it is located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was stated by Nina Yerofeyeva, head of the Department of Geology of Oil and Gas, Groundwater and Structures of Rosnedra, Interfax reports.
According to Yerofeyeva, there had never been such oil storage facilities in the country before. However, as the official clarified, they were needed today, taking into account recent events, as well as due to the lack of infrastructure in the Arctic zone in a number of regions.
Currently, it is planned that oil will be placed in them so as not to burn it during the pilot works. It is noted that the first proposals for the creation of underground oil storage facilities were made in 2020, when demand and oil prices decreased during the coronavirus period.
Earlier it was reported that Russian oil and gas revenues will decrease in May by a third compared to the levels of a year ago, to 0.52 trillion rubles, or about 6.5 billion dollars.
