OREANDA-NEWS A possible increase in gas prices by Russia would be an apocalyptic scenario for Armenia. This is what the head of the Central Bank of the Republic, Martin Galstyan, called the development of events, his words are quoted by Tert.

According to the top manager, such a step on the part of Russia does not fit into plans A and B and will have a double effect, primarily with an increase in the overall inflation rate.

"That's why we kept this scenario in mind, took it into account. From our point of view, this is a type X scenario, not A or B, it rather suggests something apocalyptic, and the reaction to it should be stronger. Therefore, at the moment we are moving in the usual mode, bearing in mind the possibility of such problems," Galstyan explained.

Armenia almost completely meets its needs at the expense of Russian gas. In 2025 "Gazprom" supplied about 2.7 billion cubic meters of gas to the country. About 476 million more per year come from Iran under the "Gas in exchange for Electricity" program.

Natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia will be suspended from September 15 to 25 due to scheduled maintenance and repair work on the North Caucasus—Transcaucasia main gas pipeline in Russia. ""During the specified period, uninterrupted and reliable gas supply to consumers of the republic will be carried out without restrictions — at the expense of internal reserves and additional volumes of natural gas supplies from Iran," Gazprom Armenia promised."
