OREANDA-NEWS  The Power of Siberia main gas pipeline, which supplies Russian gas to China, has become the deal of the century, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his article for the Chinese newspaper People's Daily "Russia and China are a partnership looking to the future." The text of the article is published on the Kremlin's website.

He also drew attention to the "significant growth" in the volume of domestic oil and coal supplies, the construction of new nuclear power units in China with the participation of Russian specialists, the connection of Chinese companies to LNG projects, as well as the doubling of bilateral trade, which reached a record $185 billion.

The Power of Siberia was launched in 2019. The pipeline supplies Russian gas to China from the Chayandinsky field in Yakutia and from the Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk region.

The contract for the construction and transportation of gas was signed in 2014 with the Chinese state-owned company CNPC. The contract is concluded for a period of 30 years and involves the supply of 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year to China. The total length of the gas pipeline is about 3 thousand km.

In 2021, Gazprom pumped almost 10.4 billion cubic meters through this pipeline. In 2022, the volume of deliveries amounted to a record 15.5 billion cubic meters of gas, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in January this year. It is planned to deliver 22 billion cubic meters in 2023.
