Spain named the deadline for abandoning Russian LNG

OREANDA-NEWS Spain will abandon Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) from January 1, 2027, despite the existing contracts of its companies for the supply of Russian energy resources. This was stated by Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, writes TASS.
According to him, Spain intends to comply with the relevant restrictions previously adopted by the European Union. He also added that sanctions could not have been imposed without Madrid's consent.
The Minister noted that Spain has one of the largest LNG storage and processing facilities. "We can help them [European countries] to supply LNG from reliable partners such as, for example, the United States," he said.
Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that Europe was facing the worst energy crisis in its history.
