OREANDA-NEWS After the US Treasury imposed sanctions on two major Russian oil companies, tankers with Russian oil bound for India are showing unusual behavior. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to data from Kpler and Vortexa.

The agency cites the example of the Furia vessel, which on October 20 took on board a shipment of 730,000 barrels of oil and indicated Sikka in the Indian state of Gujarat as its destination. Oil refineries of the private company Reliance Industries and the state-owned Bharat Petroleum are located there.

The tanker was supposed to arrive in mid-November, but on Tuesday, October 28, the tanker slowed down and stopped during the passage between Denmark and Germany.

As noted in the article, the tanker Furia had previously been included in the sanctions lists of the European Union and the United Kingdom, and Reliance Industries announced its readiness to comply with the sanctions and began purchasing shipments of Middle Eastern oil. State-owned Indian refineries have also become more cautious with the purchase of Russian raw materials.

Separately, Denmark's decision to tighten inspections of ships passing through its territorial waters from the beginning of October could have affected the ship's delay. The kingdom intends to pay special attention to age-related tankers, and Furia turns 23, which is five years older than the average age of ships of this class.
