OREANDA-NEWS During trading on Tuesday, August 5, the price of premium gasoline AI-95 according to the territorial index of the European part of Russia reached a new high and came close to the level of 78 thousand rubles per ton. This is evidenced by the data of the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange.
By 15:36 Moscow time, AI-95 quotes jumped to about 77.97 thousand rubles. The increase to the closing level of the previous session by that time was 1.25 percent. The day before, the cost of premium fuel was around 77 thousand rubles. Thus, during the day, the AI-95 added almost a thousand more rubles in price.
The cost of AI-92, in turn, rose by 1.01 percent, to 67.3 thousand rubles, and summer diesel fuel rose by 0.29 percent, to 58.3 thousand. For comparison, during the auction on Monday, August 4, the quotes of these fuels were estimated at 66.64 thousand and 58.13 thousand rubles, respectively.
Experts attribute the rise in price of the main types of automobile fuel in Russia, among other things, to the consequences of attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refineries. The last such attack took place last weekend, on Saturday, August 2. As a result of the attack, Kommersant claimed, primary processing plants with a total capacity of about 40 thousand tons per day could be damaged.
It was this circumstance, as noted, that became the main reason for the growth of anxiety on the stock exchange. The reason for this is the threat of a reduction in fuel supply on the market during the period of traditionally high summer demand, which continues to grow. In order to avoid a collapse in the domestic market, the government completely banned the export of gasoline from the country at the end of July. This measure will be in effect until August 31, 2025 and will apply to producers of petroleum products, although previously it affected only non-gasoline producers. However, so far the emergency measure of the authorities has not led to any results - stock prices for gasoline in the Russian Federation are breaking records for the second day in a row.
