OREANDA-NEWS The first deliveries of Russian gas to Iran using the existing infrastructure through Azerbaijan will begin in 2025. This was reported by TASS with reference to the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev.
According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, who named the delivery dates, we are talking about volumes of up to 1.8 billion cubic meters per year. "The price is now being negotiated by companies with each other," he said.
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad added that the deal has not yet been finalized, but the parties are trying to achieve a final result as quickly as possible.
In January, it became known that the countries had agreed on a supply route. As Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the time, at the first stage they could reach up to two billion cubic meters with the prospect of bringing them up to 55 billion cubic meters annually.
Last summer, after signing a memorandum on working out the organization of Russian gas supplies to Iran, experts noted that the implementation of the project would allow Gazprom to sell fuel to third countries in a swap regime.
