OREANDA-NEWS  The representative of the European Commission, Siobhan McGarry, said at a briefing that the assessment of the effects of oil sanctions had been revised and considered a complete ban on offshore oil exports from Russia uncritical for market stability.

The package of sanctions proposed and presented on Friday by the European Commission primarily provides for a complete ban on maritime services related to the supply of Russian crude oil.

"As for fears of market instability: when we put forward such proposals, we analyze the possible consequences. So, obviously, the assessment has changed if we put forward this proposal," she replied to the question of why the EC proposes to lift the ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation and proceed to a complete ban.
