OREANDA-NEWS  The authorities of the European Union (EU) hope that in the coming winter they will be able to purchase the missing reserves of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This was reported by Bloomberg.

Currently, just a few months before the start of the heating season, LNG storage facilities in the EU are about 57 percent full. This is the lowest figure for this time of year in the entire history of observations, starting in 2009. The agency recalled that the import of this energy source to Europe has been decreasing since April.

According to him, few people in the market seriously fear that the EU will face a gas shortage. However, it is possible that the region will have to pay more if global supplies remain limited in the face of a sharp jump in winter demand. In addition, the block will have to compete with Asia and other regions for cargo.

In July, Europe reduced the volume of purchases of liquefied natural gas to a minimum starting in 2024. Shipments from LNG terminals to the European Union's gas transportation network decreased by 26 percent year-on-year.
