OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Network Agency of Germany accepted applications from Nord Stream 1 AG and Nord Stream 2 AG operators for exemption the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines from the requirements of the EU Gas Directive and launched the process of their consideration.

“For both processes, applications were made by the relevant organizations: the first on December 23 and the second on January 10. They fall under the provisions of paragraph 28b of the law on the energy industry. It says that these applications must be processed before May 23, 2020,” the press service of the Agency says.

At the same time, a representative of the Federal Network Agency stated that the regulator cannot provide information on when a decision can be made. According to him, the explanation of the decision will be made public after its adoption.
