The median price of new cars decreased to 1.4 million rubles

OREANDA-NEWS From May to June 2025, the exchange price of Ai-92 gasoline increased by 4.5 percent, from 56,174 to 58,739 rubles per ton. Experts interviewed by Izvestia explain the rise in price of the popular brand of fuel by the growing number of Chinese cars.
According to the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange, while Ai-92 rose in price by 4.5 percent, Premium fuel, Ai-95, increased in price by 0.84 percent, 61,364 rubles to 61,881 rubles. Diesel fuel, on the contrary, fell in price by 3.43 percent— from 60,184 to 58,118 rubles.
According to Dmitry Gusev, deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Reliable Partner Association, Chinese cars have become more popular in the country over the past two years, almost all of them can run on 92 gasoline. According to GlobalData, in April 2025, car sales from China increased by 12 percent year-on-year, with more than two million cars sold in a month.
According to the Autostat agency, in May 2025, the share of Chinese brands in the structure of the Russian new car market decreased slightly. Nevertheless, it remains overwhelming — brands from China account for over half (54 percent) of the Russian new car market. In second place were domestic cars (Lada and newly created brands) with a share of 33.1 percent. The Chinese-Belarusian brand Belgee rounded out the top three (4 percent).
