OREANDA-NEWS  A new gas field has been discovered in the Black Sea, its reserves are estimated at almost 60 billion cubic meters, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"Our drilling vessel Fatih has discovered 58 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves at a depth of 3.23 thousand meters under water," he said. In total, the reserves of gas fields in the territorial waters of the country have reached 710 billion cubic meters. Their value is estimated at about one trillion dollars.

It became known in October that the Turkish authorities were going to conduct geological exploration for the exploration of oil and gas fields in 2023. The country has planned to drill 100 wells on land and perform certain work at sea. Prior to that, it was also reported that Turkey would invest almost $ 10 billion in the production and transportation of gas from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea.

In June, the Turkish president announced the start of laying a gas pipeline along the bottom of the Black Sea to deliver fuel from the field. Then he noted that according to forecasts, Sakarya will be able to reach the peak of production by 2026.
