OREANDA-NEWS Unprofitable mines in Donbass are not being closed, but they are trying to preserve them by transferring them to state management, so that they can then be transferred to an investor for development, Andrei Chertkov, acting head of the DPR government, told RIA Novosti at the WEF.
"We transfer unprofitable (mines - ed.) to state management, and this mine is not mined, but it is, as it were, in the mode of such preparation. We are not doing this just to stop - and this is the simplest thing - we are maintaining the mine in a normal state so that when the investor comes, we can give them these mines. There are very good mines with good formations, and there are a lot of coke coals for metallurgy, so we have something to share with investors. But I think now is not the time yet, as we say, when the market is sagging, then this is a window of opportunity. ... That is, if an investor is thinking about tomorrow, he should already make a decision today in order to be at the peak of business tomorrow, at the peak of prices," Chertkov said.
The tenth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) was held on September 3-6 in Vladivostok on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme of this year's WEF is "The Far East – cooperation for peace and Prosperity." RIA Novosti acted as the general information partner of the forum.
