OREANDA-NEWS  The German company Uniper is filing a lawsuit against Gazprom, accusing it of losses from the short supply of gas. Juniper estimates the current cost of replacing Russian gas at $11.6 billion, the company said in a statement.

"We are demanding compensation for our financial damage as part of this proceeding. We are talking about the volumes of gas that were agreed with Gazprom under the contract, but were not delivered, and due to the lack of which we have to purchase additional volumes at extremely high market prices. We have incurred these costs, but it is not our responsibility," said Uniper CEO Klaus—Dieter Mobach.

Uniper is the largest German buyer of Russian gas.
