OREANDA-NEWS  The Uzbek authorities did not transfer exclusive rights to all oil and gas fields to companies associated with Russia for a period of 35 years, we are talking only about the development of one field in the south of the country under the terms of a production sharing agreement (PSA), the country's Energy minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov told reporters on Monday.

Earlier, the Uzbek service of Radio Liberty* reported that in 2017, during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation, the Russian side was given full and exclusive control over all oil and gas fields of the country for 35 years.

"The information that Uzbekistan allegedly transferred the exclusive right to all gas and oil fields to companies associated with Russia for 35 years is false and misinterpreted information," Mirzamakhmudov told reporters in a video posted on the Telegram channel of the national news agency UZ.

The Minister clarified that the main part of the developed gas and oil fields of Uzbekistan belongs to Uzbekneftegaz JSC. According to him, the matter in the material of Radio Liberty* is only about the gas field "25 years of Independence", located in the Surkhandarya region in the south of the country and being developed by a group of investors under the terms of a production sharing agreement.
