OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2016. Facebook is tugging at the heart strings with a new tool that lets users raise money for their favourite non-profit organisations.

From today, users in the US will be able to raise funds for US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organisations, inviting friends to chip in for the cause. The news was announced on the Nonprofits on Facebook page, with a video showing sample fundraisers for World Wildlife Fund and World Food Program.

"Fundraisers allow nonprofit supporters to set up a dedicated page to share their story, tell others about a nonprofit's mission, and rally around a fundraising goal," the post read.

Alongside instant articles and live video, the fundraising feature is the latest attempt by the social network to get users to stay within the Facebook ecosystem for longer. Users can set fundraising targets, invite friends to donate and share posts from their chosen charity, all while staying within Facebook.
