OREANDA-NEWS The largest supplier of chocolate in Russia by the end of the first quarter was Germany, found RIA Novosti, the analysis of customs statistics of different countries.

According to the agency's calculations, more than $130 million worth of chocolate entered the domestic market from abroad in January-March. Germany sold it for $50.9 million, followed by Belgium (15.9 million) and Italy (14.5 million) in terms of such exports.

As explained by financial advisor and founder of Rodin in an interview with RIA Novosti.Alexey Rodin, Germany and Belgium do not produce cocoa beans, so their export volumes are related to other reasons.

"They were able to build the largest centers for their processing: they buy raw materials, process and produce finished products. Germany was able to build chocolate "mastodon brands" that are known all over the world," the expert said.
