OREANDA-NEWS  Sales of plant–based milk analogues in Russia in monetary terms for the eleven months of 2022 have lost all the achievements of last year, having gone into negative territory after an increase of more than 17% over the same period last year, among the reasons - the choice due to lower incomes of more affordable traditional milk, the disappearance of the novelty effect and less representation on shelves, according to experts interviewed by RIA Novosti.

According to the research company NielsenIQ, for eleven months of 2021, cash sales of vegetable milk analogues in the largest retail chains of the Russian Federation increased by 17.2% in annual terms and became a top performer among dairy products, but by the end of the same period in 2022, this dynamics went into negative territory - sales "in money" fell for a year by 0.7%. In turn, sales of traditional milk increased sharply – by 18.2% in January-November 2022 against 3.3% for the same period a year earlier, cash sales of cream also increased markedly – by 17.2% against 4.4% – and fermented products (kefirs, fermented baked milk, and so on) - by 10.4% for 11 months of 2022 against 1% for January-November 2021.

Vegetable segments of dairy categories traditionally occupy the main market share of vegetable protein-based products: for example, according to the materials of the Union of Plant-based Producers (SPPRO), in 2021, alternative dairy beverages accounted for 65% of plant-based products in the Russian Federation.
