OREANDA-NEWS  Russians on average began to consume 1 kg of beef less over the past five years. Izvestia writes about this on Tuesday with reference to the National Rating Agency (NRA). "The share of beef in a Russian's meat plate is gradually decreasing: over the past five years, it has decreased on average from 20 to 18% by the end of 2021, in absolute figures, per capita consumption has decreased on average by 1 kg to 9 kg per person," the NRA study says.

The NRA reported that the reduction in beef consumption will continue in 2022 and 2023. Against the background of the growing consumption of pork and chicken, the indicator for beef may decrease to 8 kg per person. This trend is also due to the high price of beef compared to other types of meat.

Experts expect beef prices to rise by 7% in 2023. This may happen due to an increase in its value in the world, as well as an increase in the cost of meat production.
