OREANDA-NEWS Rosselkhoznadzor specialists found an excess of the content of antibiotics in strawberries, which are grown in greenhouse conditions. This was announced at a meeting in the State Duma by the deputy head of the department Anton Karmazin, the Izvestia newspaper writes.

"In our strawberries, an excess of tetracycline was detected by 20 times, it was grown by our greenhouse farms," the publication quotes him as saying.

Karmazin also said that in the three months since the beginning of this year, 1.7 thousand cases of excess of permissible indicators for toxic substances, including in imported products, were recorded.

Tetracycline is used to treat bronchitis, pneumonia, purulent pleurisy, bacterial and amoebic dysentery, whooping cough, sore throat, scarlet fever, gonorrhea, brucellosis, tularemia, typhus, meningitis and other diseases.
