OREANDA-NEWS  In March, Russia increased imports of strawberries from China to a record $3.4 million, becoming its main importer as a result, according to Chinese customs data reviewed by RIA Novosti.

In March, Chinese companies exported $3.4 million worth of strawberries to the Russian market, which is twice as much as in February of this year and March of last year.

As a result, Russia has become the main buyer of Chinese strawberries, displacing Vietnam, the leader of the last few months. The latter, in turn, reduced imports by almost a quarter to 2.5 million dollars. Hong Kong rounded out the top three, which increased imports of this product by one and a half times in recent years, to $ 1.9 million.


In just the first three months of this year, Russia purchased $5.7 million worth of strawberries from China, compared to $2.3 million a year earlier. There have never been such large purchases in the history of bilateral trade.
At the end of the quarter, Russia accounted for slightly more than a third of all Chinese strawberry exports, although a year earlier it was only a quarter.
