OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of May 2026, the total cost of Russian cheese supplies to Georgia increased by 1.7 times compared to the same period in 2025. A sharp increase in shipments in this direction is reported by RIA Novosti, citing data from the state service of the post-Soviet country.

During the reporting period, domestic exporters shipped a total of $705.9 thousand worth of cheese to the neighboring state. The achieved result turned out to be the highest in the entire history of statistical observations, that is, since at least 2009.

This dynamic allowed Russia to become the largest supplier of this type of product to Georgia by the end of May. In total, the cost of shipments reached $2.5 million in the first five months. The indicator increased by one and a half times year on year.

Georgia, in turn, has significantly increased the supply of fish to the Russian market. In the last month of spring, exports of this type of product from the post-Soviet country to the Russian Federation reached a historic maximum and amounted to $ 1.3 million in monetary terms. As a result, Russia became the main importer of Georgian fish.
